CHALLENGE
- Create engaging projects that teach students about the fundamentals of photography
- Partner with Gordon Parks Elementary and work with their students for an entire semester
- Build an exhibition for Inspire! that showcases the children’s work, creativity, and discoveries
Result: Inspired Photography
Held at the Kansas City Art Institute, INSPIRE! is a culmination of a school year project that introduces students to the work and legacy of Gordon Parks. He was a pioneering artist whose work has had a profound impact on American culture. Leaning into project-based learning, our team developed a pinhole camera project as well as a sun print project to help teach students about the “old school” principles of photography and light. We also designed and built the exhibition for this meaningful event.
